Hillary Provance-Wheeler, LPC
Welcome to Green Light Counseling! My name is Hillary and I’m licensed by the state of Oregon as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in the field of mental health for more than 10 years. I believe that therapy should be collaborative, and client driven. I believe that each individual knows their personal needs. Together in therapy, each person can empower themselves with skills to establish new and effective patterns of behaviors. I approach therapy without bias and judgement. Each person’s story is unique and individualized; therefore, treatment planning will be utilized as a means to create insight and to help you move a step closer in authoring your new narrative. While therapy itself asks the client to step into roles of vulnerability and courage, I believe that the role of the therapist is to guide and assist the client in reclaiming the parts of their self which feel stuck, unworthy, helpless, shameful, and inadequate, through the use of a safe, confidential, and collaborative environment.
Educational Background:

I work with people of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, religions, and abilities; with all people, without judgment.
My primary area of work is in grief and loss counseling, as well as major life adjustments. Adjusting to new, and perhaps unforeseen, life circumstances along with the emotional journey we face during this process can be overwhelming and challenging. Many times people feel alone and isolated while grieving. In therapy, we can process tough emotional experiences and find a path to healing. In therapy you will have an opportunity to empower yourself, validate your emotions, and establish meaning in your life.
